SEATTLE – The Justice Department announced today that a federal grand jury has charged a Seattle man with cyberstalking against a former roommate, his family, the police and prosecutors.

35-year-old Sumit Garg was employed as a cybersecurity consultant.

The detailed criminal complaint begins with allegations that the suspect read his roommate’s diary. The prosecution accuses him of using personal information to threaten and torture a former roommate in violation of a court order.

He allegedly continued to threaten several people in the victim’s family, including sending sexually explicit messages.

After the Seattle police and assistant prosecutor began investigating the threats, the suspect allegedly continued to send death threats.

At one point, Garg allegedly entered the lobby of the victim’s new home, took photos of himself there, and used those photos to scare the victim.
