Seahawks 2021 Awards: Offensive Player of the Year

Nick Lee: Even with three straight 1,000-yard seasons on his résumé, Lockett continues to be one of the most underrated receivers in the league. Though the offensive faltered with Russell Wilson’s injury and otherwise stuttered, Lockett put together arguably his best season in Seattle. He set a career-high 1,175 receiving yards, becoming the seventh player in franchise history to rush for 1,100 yards and score eight touchdowns in a season. He was the most consistent and productive part of Seattle’s offense, and excelled even when the offense was underperforming most of the season.

Colby Patnode: Russell Wilson’s injury has skewed everyone’s numbers this season, but Lockett still managed to rank for over 1,100 yards and used a late barrage of points to finish with eight touchdowns. He became the second Seahawk to record 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons, joining Hall of Famer Steve Largent in the Seahawks record books. He also didn’t drop a single pass, making him the only receiver in the league with more than 950 receiving yards to pull off such a feat this year. Without his star quarterback for three games and catching passes from him at well under 100 percent in at least three more, this was perhaps his best season.

Rishi Rastogi: Given the rather inconsistent performances of superstars Russell Wilson and DK Metcalf, this really is one of the easier decisions for Attacking Player of the Year. Lockett’s career-high 1,175 yards led the team as he became only the second receiver in franchise history to rush for a third straight season for 1,000 yards. Lockett, now well established to veteran status, remained a steadfast and consistent target for Wilson, capping an impressive two-touchdown season against the Cardinals in the season finale.
