Robert ‘Bobby’ Wellbeing | Obituaries

71-year-old Robert “Bobby” Wohlwohl from Centerville, Washington, died of cancer on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at his daughter Cassandra Pietz’s home in Yankton.

A celebration of his life will take place in Washington at a later date.

The arrangements are made under the direction of the undertaker Wintz & Ray and the cremation service in Yankton.

Robert was born on January 7, 1950 in Vancouver, Washington, to Harry and Catherine (Mersman) Wohlwohl. He graduated from Washougal High School in Washougal, Washington in 1968 and joined the US Army National Guard in 1969. Robert lived in various locations in Washington and often worked in seasonal jobs to spend the winters in the mountains and ski. Robert loved the mountains and was out skiing, hiking, camping, mushroom picking and rock picking. For the past 19 years he lived in Centerville, Washington, where he often piled rock sculptures on his property. He loved working in his garden and raising llamas, goats, chickens, ducks and geese. Robert was a numismatist with a very extensive coin collection and knowledge of US coins. He enjoyed taking part in coin-operated shows wherever he traveled. He never turned down a game of cribbage, and never got a perfect hand. Robert loved listening to rock music and watching NASCAR races. He moved to Yankton to live with his daughter Cassandra in December 2020 after being admitted to hospice care. He cherished this time they could share.

Robert is survived by his two daughters Jessica (Dan) Laabs from Battleground, WA, and Cassandra (Matthew) Pietz from Yankton. five grandchildren: Mellissa McBean (Michael Blanchard), Danielle Laabs and Cohan, Camden and Cyver Pietz; a great-granddaughter, Dorothy Blanchard; two brothers, Greg (Jayne) Wohlwohl from Washougal, WA and Harry Wohlwohl (Sharron Huffman) from Portland, OR; a sister, Joyce (John) Simerly of Vancouver, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a little brother, David.
