New York, Toronto and Boston are all practically level for the wild card playoff spots, while Oakland is three and a half behind, half a game ahead of Seattle.

A busy preparatory sports schedule starts this afternoon on the soccer field …

Ephrata travels to Prosser at 4 a.m. while Omak receives Pateros and Quincy plays in Naches Valley. Cascade will meet Cle Elum-Roslyn at 4:30 am, while Liberty Bell visits Chelan, Bridgeport competes against Manson and Brewster travels to Tonasket.

At 5:30 p.m. today, Pateros welcomes Wilson Creek to the volleyball courts. Cascade Christian greets Soap Lake at 6am. Then at 6:30 am his top penish in Quincy; Oroville at Okanogan; and Brewster is home to Liberty Bell. Eastmont receives Moses Lake at 7 a.m. while Bridgeport plays for Entiat. Manson and Omak don’t start until 7:30 a.m. tonight.

There’s also a high school football game tonight to kick off the weekend as Quincy plays in Naches Valley at 7:30 AM. Tomorrow night in the Caribou Trail League it’s Brewster at Cascade; Cashmere is home to Granite Falls; Chelan travels to Lakeside; and Okanogan and Omak fight a wheelbarrow game.

Eastmont’s game against Lewis & Clark has been postponed tomorrow. A bussing problem causes problems for the Tigers. According to Eastmont’s sports director Russ Waterman, the game is tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday until the bussings take place.

In another Big 9 game, Wenatchee starts tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 a.m. at Mountain View in Vancouver, Washington. Moses Lake plays in Lake City, Eisenhower receives Lewiston and West Valley finally plays his first home game against Kennewick.

On Saturday, Davis will play at Garfield while Sunnyside visits Skyview.

And while we’re looking at football weekend, we’re looking at the B schedule. Tonasket starts at Manson at 3:30 p.m. Bridgeport receives Waterville-Mansfield at 4 a.m. Liberty Bell plays at 6 in Pomeroy, while Pateros plays Soap Lake at 7.

On Saturday it’s Entiat at 2 p.m. at Tekoa-Rosalia.
