Rantz: As you struggle to pay bills, Seattle’s Pramila Jayapal says ‘inflation’ is just ‘theoretical’

Out-of-control Democrat spending created the worst inflation crisis we’ve seen in 40 years. And Democrats voted to continue that bad habit. But in the eyes of Seattle Progressive Rep. Pramila Jayapal, inflation is “theoretical” so perhaps we shouldn’t worry.

Jayapal voted for President Joe Biden’s dubiously-titled Inflation Reduction Act. As even CNN anchors point out, the bill does not reduce inflation. Instead, it’s a massive spending bill that aims to address climate change and healthcare.

Defending the bill from criticisms that it does nothing to drive down costs in measurable ways that the American people will feel, Jayapal argues that “‘inflation’ is like a theoretical word that economists use.” It’s an odd statement since the word “inflation” is literally in the name of the bill she just voted to pass.

Jayapal says inflation doesn’t really exist

Democrats are on the defensive, claiming the bill addresses the chief concern among the public: sky-high inflation.

From food and clothes to gas and housing, families from Kenmore and Kelso to Seattle and Spokane are struggling. Inflation surged, in large part, due to Biden-era spending, but Democrats promised that the Inflation Reduction Act would come to the rescue. This was always a lie.

At best, the Inflation Reduction Act reduces inflation by .01%, according to a University of Pennsylvania Penn Wharton analysis released just before the vote. Still, Democrats needed to deliver the president a legislative win ahead of the midterm elections where pollsters expect Republicans will win back the House and possibly the Senate.

Jayapal, who prefers more spending than what’s in the Inflation Reduction Act, defended the bill and the claims she and her colleagues made.

“And it [the Inflation Reduction Act] is ultimately going to lead to a reduction in overall inflation, but most importantly, to the budget that people have every single day. ‘Inflation’ is like a theoretical word that economists use but what families feel everyday is the up or down of costs,” Jayapal told FOX News.

Jayapal, again, tells us how little she knows

Theoretically, Seattle has a congresswoman who understands the issues impacting her district. But Jayapal’s office did not respond to a request to clarify her bizarre comments. And this is not the first time the Seattle progressive has embarrassed us with her grasp on the issues.

When Roe v. Wade was overturned, Jayapal argued that the Supreme Court justices don’t have the right to overturn precedent.

“These justices are acting like this is somehow something that they have the right to change,” Jayapal said. “They do not have the right to change this which has been settled law for two generations now of people who have grown up and have gone through their twenties in the firm belief that they can make these decisions about their own bodies.”

Her comments on a remedial understanding of the Court.

She also apparently didn’t understand what overturning Roe v. Wade actually meant. She implied to her base that it banned abortion across the country.
