Randolph Father Mourns Son After Deadly Shooting In Everett

EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A 20-year-old man is dead after being shot dead in Everett over the weekend.

Randolph’s Craig McDonald said it was his son Craig McDonald Junior who was killed in the Friday night shootings. McDonald spoke to Suzanne Sausville at WBZ about his son, whom he named CJ.

McDonald said his son CJ was in Everett Friday night to watch a high school football game with a boyfriend and girlfriend. CJ’s dad said the three friends were in his car when someone walked up to them and started shooting. Police said they were called to reports of a shooting on Second and Revere Streets around 8:00 p.m.

McDonald describes a harrowing scene when CJ’s friends called him on the man’s phone, carried him into the back seat of the car, and raced to Whidden Memorial Hospital.

Doctors and nurses tried to save CJ when he arrived, but the damage was too great. They came out to tell him the bad news.

“They said he had cardiac arrests twice and lost too much blood, so he died,” said McDonald. “He was the gentlest, quietest and most respectful man I have ever met.”

The man said he expected to bury his son after an autopsy this week. He believes the people who shot CJ knew one of the friends in the car.

Everett Police, District Attorneys, and State Police are still investigating but have not made arrests.

McDonald described holding his dead son’s hand and praying. The man had only seen CJ the day before. “He came home as usual,” said McDonald.

“He told us he would be back,” he said. “There’s always a side of justice, but you always want, more than that, that he’s here, he back.”
