More than 10,000 free COVID-19 tests have been conducted at the Tower Mall Community Testing location since opening on Jan. The barrier free trial site was a partnership between Clark County Public Health, City of Vancouver, Clark Regional Emergency Services Agencies (CRESA), Washington State Department of Health and Curative.

The Tower Mall Community Test Site was opened to meet critical testing needs when access was extremely restricted. Other Clark County’s COVID-19 testing resources have become more available in recent months, resulting in an overall decline in testing being performed at Tower Mall. With this in mind, Clark County Public Health and the City of Vancouver have decided to close the test site and focus on increasing the capacity for vaccination efforts.

“With COVID-19 vaccination taking center stage across the country, testing continues to be an important tool in slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” said Dr. Alan Melnick, Clark County Health Commissioner and Director of Public Health. “We recommend anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or anyone who has been in close contact with someone who tests positive to have tests at a different local test site.”

The Tower Mall will continue to offer a COVID-19 vaccination by agreement. Additional operating days, including the possibility of evening hours, will be considered. Operations staff currently working at the test site will be transferred to the vaccination site or will return to their previous roles at Vancouver Parks and Recreation.

“Tower Mall’s community testing program has been an important tool in our city’s COVID-19 response,” said Anne McEnerny-Ogle, Vancouver Mayor. “I take pride in the excellent and compassionate service our people around town have provided to people looking for COVID-19 tests. The support and guidance we received from our partners at Health Commons and Curative enabled our employees to offer this vital community public health resource. “

The Tower Mall community test site COVID-19 will continue to operate from Tuesday through Saturday through April 30th from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Visit www.ClarkCountyCOVIDtesting.org to pre-register for a test.
