Prep roundup: Masyn Thielman lifts Mead girls soccer over Mt. Spokane; Lakeside volleyball wins NEA District title

Girls soccer

Mead 3, Mt Spokane 2 (4-3): Masyn Thielman scored the winning goal in a shootout and the Panthers (13-3) beat the visiting Wildcats (10-5) in a District 8 3A semifinal. Mead will meet Ridgeline for the title at 5 pm Tuesday at Union Stadium.

Ridgeline 3, Southridge 0: Preslie Young scored two goals with an assist and the visiting Falcons (12-3) beat the Suns (9-7) in a District 8 3A semifinal.

Kamiakin 2, Gonzaga Prep 1 (8-7): Kate Christian scored the tying goal in the 44th minute and the visiting Braves (14-3) edged the Bullpups (14-2) via shootout in a District 8 4A semifinal. Kamiakin will meet Lewis and Clark, a 1-0 winner over Richland, for the title at 1 pm Saturday

Hanford 1, Central Valley 0 (OT): Madelynn Utecht scored the go-ahead goal in double OT to lift the visiting Falcons (5-11) over the Bears (0-14) in a District 8 4A loser-out game.

volleyball

Lakeside 3, Freeman 2: Avery Haff had 15 kills and two aces and the visiting Eagles (13-4) beat the Scotties (18-1) for the District 7 1A title. Freeman’s Aspyn Reed had 13 kills.

Colville 3, Deer Park 0: Bayley Benson had 17 kills and the Crimson Hawks (11-7) beat the visiting Stags (7-9) in the District 7 1A third-place match.
