Open Houses – Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue – Oct 4, 6, 9 – Everett Post

Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue will host a series of open days during Fire Week, October 3-9. On October 4th and 6th there will be two open days during the week from 5pm to 7pm.

The first Open House will be held on Monday evening October 4th at Station 81 in Lake Stevens at 12409 21st St NE. The second Open House on Wednesday October 6th will be held at Station 71 in Snohomish at 8010 180th St SE.

The last major open day will take place on Saturday, October 9th from 12:00 to 16:00 at Station 31 in Monroe in Village Court 163.

All residents are encouraged to attend an open house, especially children. There will be activities for students that incorporate their school programs, as well as programs for adults and seniors. There will be refreshments at every open house.

The series of open days is part of the fire safety week. This year’s campaign includes “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety”. Kaitlin King, Public Education Specialist, comments, “It is important to understand the different sounds made by smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. When an alarm makes a noise – a beep or a chirp – you have to act. “

Fire protection sounds include:

  • All smoke alarms must be replaced after 10 years
  • A continuous set of three loud beeps from a smoke alarm means smoke or fire. Get out, call 9-1-1 and stay outside
  • A signal chirping every 30 to 120 seconds means that the smoke detector’s battery is weak and needs to be replaced
  • A beeping sound that persists after the battery has been changed means that the alarm is at the end of its service life and the device must be replaced
  • Make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms meet the needs of all of your family members, including those with sensory or physical disabilities
