Alazne Pomaika’imaikalani Amorin

Alazne Pomaika’imaikalani Amorin, 3 days old, from Lihu’e, died at home on March 8, 2021. She was born in Lihu’e on March 5, 2021.

It was preceded by the death of her paternal grandfather, Darrell Amorin.

She is owned by parents Emerson and Amber Amorin, sisters Aryana Amorin and Alexia Amorin, brother Ethan Amorin, Hanai brother Xaerys Dela Cruz, paternal grandmother Dawn Amorin, maternal grandparents Peter and Esher Riopta as well as numerous aunts, uncles and Cousins ​​survived.

A celebration of life is Saturday, March 20, at the Kaua’i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, with a 9-10:30 AM tour followed by a funeral at the Kaua’i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Brian Kenji Miyasato

Brian Kenji Miyasato, 69, died on March 8, 2021 at his home in Mountlake Terrace, Washington. He was born on July 5, 1951 in Lihu’e. He grew up in Kapahi and graduated from Kapa’a High School in 1969.

He attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado for only a year – too far and too cold for a Kaua’i-born boy. He resumed his studies at Seattle Community College (now North Seattle College) and earned an associates degree.

He spent most of his adult life in a variety of culinary professions, starting with the once historic landmark of Seattle’s Twin TeePees Restaurant & Lounge near Greenlake. He eventually ended up in Everett cooking for Snohomish County Corrections. He retired in 2016 after 28 years of service.

His work experience began at the age of 7 helping his uncles in their pineapple fields. There he learned the work ethic of the Wakuta, a legacy of his immigrant grandparents from Okinawa and his uncles Mamoru and Hideo Wakuta and Sam Sakihama. During high school he was busy with tables at the Coco Palms Resort.

Before him, the parents Seichi and Kiyoko (Wakuta) Miyasato and the grandparents Sanra and Kora Miyasato as well as Matsu and Mito Wakuta died.

He is owned by former wife Kate McGillis Miyasato, daughter Moira from Everett, Washington, son Daniel (Bri Poso’a-Filipe) and grandchildren Katana and Royce from Vancouver, Washington, and siblings Margie (Richard) Alfieri from Edmonds , Washington, survived, Ben of Honolulu and Violet (Tom) West of Lakeland, Florida, niece Mito (Norman) Cheuk and nephews John (Angela West) Alfieri and JJ (Becky) West, great-niece Sofia Cheuk, great-nephews Tyler Purdum, Ronin and Ferris West and many other nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private funeral will be held at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington. A memorial ceremony is proposed for some time in the summer.

Olandra Kaleiohi died in Lihu’e on March 9, 2021. She was born on September 13, 1962.

Before her, the fathers Ephraim Eliza Kaleiohi II and Herbert Kaneholani Sr., mother Roberta Leilani Kaleiohi and the brothers Herbert Kaneholani Jr. David Kaneholani, George Kaneholani, Harry Kaneholani, Jerry Kaneholani and Hanai brother Kingsley Guillian, the sisters Glorietta Kaleiohi, G ‘Nell Kaleiohi Vea, Yukie-Lynn DeSilva, Rose Mary Sanay and Tatiana Ryan.

She is led by her partner Katherine Kaliloa, the brothers Ephraim Kaleiohi III, Edward Kaleiohi, Job Kane, John (Leila) Kaneholani, Clement Kaneholani, Billy Kaneholani, Daniel Kaneholani and Hanai brother Peter (Yolanda) Lopez, the sisters Mitzie Kaleiohi and Tania Kaleiohi survived, Corina Kaleiohi, Olinda Higashi, Midge Asai and Miriam Kupihea as well as numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The tour will take place on Saturday, March 20 at 10 a.m. at the Garden Island Mortuary. Life is celebrated at 11 o’clock. The family suggests casual clothing. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

Juliette ‘Tootsie’ Smythe Chaikin

Juliette “Tootsie” Smythe Chaikin died peacefully on February 1, 2021 at her home in Sherman Oaks, California. She was born on August 27, 1932 in Peahi, Maui.

She is survived by Sister Noelani Smythe from Kapa’a, sons David (Stephanie) Chaikin from Kona, Hawaii and Steven (Greta Martinez) Chaikin from Kaunakakai, Moloka’i, and grandchildren Christine, Steven and Zachary.

She graduated from the Hawaiian Mission Academy in Honolulu in 1950 and later attended La Sierra College in Riverside, California.

She had a long career in real estate management and retired in 2011. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Private services will be held at a later date in Kaua’i, where she will be buried with her mother, Julia Holokai Johnson.

The Neptune Society in Sherman Oaks, California and the Garden Island Mortuary are helping the family organize it.
