New Mukilteo Ferry Terminal Now Completed – Everett Post

Just in time for Memorial Day Weekend, the new Mukilteo ferry terminal has crossed the finish line. The $ 187.3 million project to modernize and relocate the old ferry terminal has just completed the installation of the pavement and traffic signals on First Street, increasing the capacity of the stop lanes by 50 cars and marking the completion of the project, with which already Construction phase 1 started in July 2015.

With over 4 million passengers a year, the new terminal is a breath of fresh air for everyday commuters. The new terminal includes a new walk-on passenger bridge and a rich display of Native American art that local tribal artists have provided for the passenger building.

According to the press release, the new First Street consists of two lanes in and two lanes outside the terminal to facilitate the flow of traffic in the facility. “The traffic light increases the safety for pedestrians who cross the SR 525 on their way to the promenade, the Lighthouse Park and the ferry,” says the press release. Additionally, the signal is timed for the busy summer season and then adjusted on the route for the slower winter season.
