Nate Weitzer’s Week 1 games to watch, picks

Milton at Scituate: Both teams will move up a division under the new MIAA alignments, with Milton joining Division 3 and Scituate now a D4 program. The start can offer the hopefuls of the championship an early litmus test. Selection: MILTON.

Duxbury at Bridgewater-Raynham: New coaches aim to get their first win with Lou Pacheco and the Trojans who receive Matt Landolfi and the Dragons. Selection: BRIDGEWATER-RAYNHAM

Barnstable at Brockton: With Brockton trainer Peter Colombo considering retiring, this could be the last season since 1969 that a Colombo has led boxers. Ross Jatkola and Barnstable don’t mind spoiling Brockton’s home debut. Choose: BARNSTABLE.

Mansfield at Saint John’s (Shrewsbury): Mansfield trainer Mike Redding and Saint Johns trainer John Andreoli were teammates at Holy Cross before graduating in 1982. Choose: MANSFIELD.

Central Catholic in Springfield Central: These Division 1 powerhouses kick off the first year of a statewide tournament with a world-class interstate matchup. Select: SPRINGFIELD CENTRAL.

Brighton at O’Bryant: Sahmir Morales and the Bengals open the year with a tilt against O’Bryant, the runner-up in the Boston City League in the Fall II season. Choose: BRIGHTON.

Cohasset at Abington: These South Shore League rivals have a ton of history, with Cohasset leading Abington in the 2018 Division 7 South finals, but the Green Wave has won each of the last two regular season games. Choose: ABINGTON.

Danvers in Tewksbury: Tewksbury unveils a new facility at Doucette Stadium for a Saturday afternoon test against Danvers. These programs have met several times in Division 3 North-Bracket, both of which will be moved to Division 4 under the new orientations. Choose: TEWKSBURY.
