Nancy Has Everett Where She Wants Him

|

It looks like there is two (potentially) good news for The CW’s Kennedy McMannStarring Nancy Drew this week. Behind the camera, the network released the 2021-2022 schedule and the pick-up of pilots – and while Tom Swift hasn’t received a series contract yet, it’s still being considered. Given the growing need for content, this is a much better position than … let’s say … Powerpuff (but we’ll leave this alone). In front of the camera, the season seems to be heading towards a breakup – which is why we’re a little worried. Because every time a description uses a sentence like “exactly where she wants it” – Nancy (McMann) is in that position at Everett (Andrew Airlie) – They just know that a three-pack is going to go into the mix (just ask the folks at ABC’s Big Sky). And, as you’ll see in the thumbnails, episode synopsis, and “The Dangerous Prisoner’s Verdict” promo below, there’s not much to calm our nerves.

Nancy Drew Season 2, Episode 17 “The Judgment of the Dangerous Prisoner”: BEN HOLLINGSWORTH (“CODE BLACK”) HOSTING – Nancy (Kennedy McMann) finally got Everett (guest star Andrew Airlie) exactly where she wanted him. Meanwhile, Nick (Tunji Kasim) receives disturbing news about the youth center about to open from one of his tenants, Jake Cazine (guest star Ben Hollingsworth). Finally, Carson (Scott Wolf) shares something troubling with Bess (Maddison Jaizani). Leah Lewis and Alex Saxon also star. Jeff W. Byrd directed the episode of Erika Harrison.

Nancy Drew’s season two follows the legendary teenage detective as she solves both earthbound and supernatural puzzles in her haunted hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine. Nancy (Kennedy McMann) leads a sleuthing team of unlikely friends: George Fan (Leah Lewis) whose clairvoyant legacy will arise from their encounters with the paranormal; Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani), a cheater and heiress with several admirers; Ned “Nick” Nickerson (Tunji Kasim), Nancy’s ex and George’s friend, a gifted mechanic with a tragic past; and philosophical slacker Ace (Alex Saxon) whose computer hacking skills have created secret problems that will soon be exposed. In season one, the Drew Crew helped Nancy discover the amazing truth that Lucy Sable, the ghost who had haunted her all season, was her birth mother and her birth father was corrupt billionaire Ryan Hudson (Riley Smith).

Season two is a direct pickup from season one, so it will cover Fall 2019, during Nancy’s gap year before college. Ryan will seek to redeem himself by forging a father-daughter bond with Nancy and keeping her parents a secret from the rest of his powerful family. Nancy will also find a way forward with her adoptive father Carson Drew (Scott Wolf) by becoming an investigator for his legal practice. Her adventures will bring the Drew Crew stand-alone cases, new romances, and emotional journeys of self-invention as Nancy seeks to navigate with both her birth parent and the man who raised her – but the Hudson’s increasing intrigue and menace Family will ultimately force them to make a life changing decision.
