MotoGP for for the street- Ducati presents the new Panigale V4 R: over 250 hp

{The new Ducati Panigale V4 is identifiable from the first glance thanks to its Carbon wings and MotoGP-inspired livery, which integrates white plates that have the number “1” visible. The first time this bike is produced in a series numbered that has the number progressive and designation on the steering wheel made of billet aluminum.

The engine at the heart of the Panigale V4 R is the new 998 cc Desmosedici Stradale R, an engine with the capability of reaching an engine maximum speed of 16,500 RPM in the sixth gear (16,000 in other gears) and offering a maximal power of 218 horses at 15500 rpm (Euro-5 compatible*) Absolute benchmarks in the panorama of supersports bikes with the same displacement. The new Desmosedici Stradale R despite its many improvements, offers slightly reduced performance compared to its predecessor because of the limitations imposed by the exhaust system complying to the stringent Euro-5 homologation. The potential of the engine can be realized on track by fitting the racing exhaust that allows it to reach 237 hp which is 3 horsepower more than its predecessor.

The development of the engine for the new Panigale V4 R also involved the production of an specially formulated oildeveloped by Shell working in conjunction along with Ducati Corse. The performance oil of the future promises an increase of 10% in mechanical friction. It also results in an increase in the maximum power of a further 3.5 HP, and then increases to +4.5 HP at the limiter.
{The formulation of the oil is based on the addition of race-type additives, specific for high-rpm engines equipped with dry clutches. In reality, it is the dry clutch, as in MotoGP and SBK engines, which allows to use additives that could make transmission of torque problematic in the wet clutch. Chemical elements are added to base oil with specific amounts and percentages to ensure an appropriate balance of performance and protection of the engine.

Combining racing exhaust and specially formulated oils, the maximum power output from the Panigale V4 R can therefore be as high as 240.5 hp
