SPOKANE, Wash. – As Spokane endures another week of unusually hot weather, the city’s streets buckle and crack in the heat.

The Washington state Department of Transportation says crews are identifying streets across the city that will be affected by the heat. In particular, the Lincoln exit on I-90 going west, the east ramp from Highway 2 to I-90, and the I-90 exit going east to Liberty Lake show signs of cracks and lifts.

We have seen other heat-related pavement issues throughout the Spokane area. The crews identify areas where the sidewalk has been raised in places. Locations include – WB I-90 exit on Lincoln Street, EB US 2 exit on EB I-90, and I-90 EB Liberty Lake exit. pic.twitter.com/DvfFgKe9oP

During the over 100-degree heat wave in Spokane last week, crews across the state found roads kinking, bleeding and cracking from the extreme heat.
