RENTON, Wash. (AP) – DK Metcalf impressed many in the NFL when the Seattle Seahawks’ great recipient drove 10.37 seconds 100 meters at the US Golden Athletics Games in Southern California last week.

This included Seattle trainer Pete Carroll.

“I thought it was a wonderful challenge that he accepted,” said Carroll after the Seahawks rookie mini camp on Saturday. “DK is a very special person and it would take a special person to even think about it and even think about it.”

Metcalf finished ninth out of nine in his qualifier, but his respectable time earned the respect of sprinters who wanted to prove that track speed is very different from that of football.

Metcalf, wearing earrings and a gold necklace, was delicately bursting from the blocks. He wasn’t left behind either and stayed in the mix until the finish line. The winner of his run was Cravon Gillespie, who finished in 10.11 seconds.

Carroll said Metcalf mentioned the idea to him some time ago and viewed the whole company as Metcalf’s attempt to up his pace for football activities.

“I saw it as a competition, as a competition, followed it up, figured out how to put it all together, and then it’s there and it looks wonderful. I mean, he looked great, ”said Carroll.

Carroll said he followed the race with his family and was in the driveway within minutes to set up cones for his grandchildren to race.

“Most of all, I think it’s his vision to see the challenge, to pursue it and then overcome it and then be very humble and respectful of it,” said Carroll. “I was really, really proud of him.”
