June 27, 2022

Mary Ann Peterson passed peacefully in her sleep into the loving arms of her Lord Jesus Christ early on the morning of June 27, 2022.

Mary Ann was born January 8, 1942 to her parents, Obert (Jake) and Clara Jacobson, in Alexandria, Minnesota. She began her early years in the nearby town of Osakis, MN until, at the age of 5, she moved with her family to Marysville, Washington where her parents owned and operated a plumbing and kitchen appliance sales business. She attended Lincoln and Liberty Elementary Schools and graduated from Marysville High School with the class of 1960. Upon graduation she enrolled in the nursing degree program at Washington State College (now University) and studied to become a Registered Nurse. After two years, the nursing program at WSC was discontinued and she transferred to the University of Washington to complete her studies. She graduated from U of W in 1964 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse.

She began her nursing career at what was then Everett General Hospital and worked in Obstetrics, which was her favorite area of medicine.

Shortly thereafter, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Pearson, who, after graduating from WSC, entered training to become a pilot in the United States Air Force. She moved with him to Del Rio, Texas where Bob continued his training. In 1966, while in Del Rio, their daughter, Angela, was born. Upon completion of training, Bob was assigned to Vietnam, and Mary Ann and Angela returned to Marysville. Tragically Bob was killed in combat in June of 1967 while flying a mission over Vietnam. In late 1970, Mary Ann and Angela moved to Seattle where she continued her love of learning, attending classes at the Lutheran Bible Institute and Seattle Pacific University.

She met her second husband, Bob, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Everett and they were married there in July of 1973. They moved into their family home of 49 years in Everett and added two more children to their family, son David and daughter Anna.

Mary Ann dearly loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed many family get-togethers over the years. She devoted her life to raising her children, of whom she was very proud, and helping with grandchildren, whenever possible. She is lovingly remembered by her children and neighborhood children as a mom who was always helpful and welcoming. She is and will be greatly missed by all.

In her many years she loved camping with her children and relatives, activities with children and grandchildren, playing bridge with friends, on-line scrabble with several friends, gospel music, travel to many parts of the United States, cruising, family reunions in Seaside , OR, Minnesota, Port Townsend and Marysville, and most of all, the special times with her children and grandchildren gathered at her home.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Bob, their three children and families: daughter Angela (Patrick), son David (Lynn), daughter Anna (Chris), six grandchildren: Sean, Molly, Holland, Lena, Landon and Jacob, her brother, Jon Jacobson, and her extended family of many cousins.

No services are currently planned, but a celebration of her life will be held in the near future.

According to her wishes, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be made to the Marysville Food Bank, which was one of her favorite charities, or the charity of your choice.
