Makenzie Ullrich, Emma Goewey post double-doubles, Mount Everett girls basketball holds off Lee

Makenzie Ullrich and Emma Goewey posted double-doubles Friday night as they helped the Mount Everett girls’ basketball team fend off a late Lee comeback at home.

Mount Everett eventually took the matchup 50-47.

After Lee took the 16-14 lead in the first quarter, the Eagles closed the deficit before going into half by a narrow margin. Mount Everett continued to extend their lead in the third quarter before holding back a Lee team that beat the Eagles 14-11 in the final quarter.

Ullrich led her team with 17 points, including a trio with 3 pointers. She also added 11 rebounds to the win. Goewey meanwhile had 16 rebounds that went along with her 12 points.

Mia Puleri and Caroline Mahoney reached Lee with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

With the win, Mount Everett moved up to 2-10. The Wildcats, meanwhile, dropped to 0-4 to begin their season.
