Louis R. Snider, MD, was born in Wells, Nevada on June 13, 1925, the son of Anna Malvina Moore and Harry Snider. He died on November 16, 2022.

He married Ethel Marie Anderson on March 22, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah. dr Snider was educated in Wells, Nevada, and graduated from the University of Utah, and the University of Utah College of Medicine in 1952.

He served in the US Navy as an aviation cadet during World War II, and then as a medical officer during the Korean Conflict.

He took a residency in ophthalmology at Harvard University and at Wood Wisconsin Veterans Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He practiced ophthalmology in Ogden from 1960 to 1992. Snider was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and was on the staff of St. Benedict’s Hospital (now Ogden Regional Medical Center) and the McKay-Dee Hospital. He was a member of the Weber County Medical Society, and the Utah State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the Utah State Ophthalmology Society.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Snider. Survived by his daughter, Susette Marie Gallegos of Vancouver Washington, sons Gary R. Snider MD (Kathy) of Denver, Colorado, Steven P. Snider of Farmington, Utah, and grandsons Robert L. Snider (Caitlin), Samuel S. Snider ( Ashleigh), and Maximilian N. Snider, and great grandsons Kai and Nikki Zamora, Theodore and Alexander Snider.
