LHS pitcher Riley Miller signs with Clark College | Secondary school

LA GRANDE – La Grande High School right-handed Riley Miller has signed up to play baseball for the Clark College Penguins.

The college in Vancouver, Washington announced the signing on Friday, May 14th. The senior pitcher was dominant this year and contributed to the Tigers’ impressive regular season.

“We love its competitiveness,” said Clark head coach Mark Magdaleno. “That is the difference; Not all people have this level of competitiveness and this sense of will. “

La Grande ended the regular season with a 12-1 record and is now entering the district playoffs as one of the top teams in the state of Oregon.

Clark College participates in the Northwest Athletic Conference and has 22 players who have moved to NCAA programs. The Penguins’ 2021 season was canceled due to COVID-19 but they were a perfect 7-0 before the 2020 season was canceled.

Magdaleno first noticed Miller when he was visiting La Grande for a game against Eastern Oregon.

“You could just tell that he was a good person and a perfect match for our boys when we did punch drills and things like that,” he said.

Miller recently threw a four-inning shutout against Baker and scored two RBIs in the same game. After completing La Grande’s postseason, he will compete at the college level.

“We’re looking for him to fight for a place on the grid,” said Magdaleno.
