Lawrence Everett “Bud” Hibler

Lawrence Everett “Bud” Hibler, 90, peacefully entered his eternal home on September 22, 2021. Bud was born on October 7, 1930 in Liberal, KS, the 5th of 11 children of Charles Everett Hibler and Lou Ella Horton.

From the moment he was born, Bud kept everyone busy. He took great pleasure in joking and annoying those he loved. Bud graduated from Liberal High School in 1948. He had a passion for gardening and working with his hands. His farm has been named “Farm of the Week” in Liberal several times. Bud was an avid John Wayne fan with a large collection of memorabilia and a dog named “Dog”. He was convinced that a film would not be worth seeing without a horse or a cowboy. Camping was one of his favorite pastimes. Every summer he invited his family and often friends and took a two-week vacation to his favorite spot on Table Rock Lake in the Ozarks.

Bud spent most of his career overseeing and maintaining gas wells for the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. He was also employed by the city’s Liberal Parks Department, overseeing the Liberal Sanitation Department before retiring.

Bud married Joyce Ann Burnham on August 3, 1973 and had a total of 10 children from the relationship. They lived in Liberal, KS all their lives until they moved to Amarillo, TX in 2010.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann, 44 years old, two sons; Richard and Bill Hibler, a grandson William Everett Lovelace, and a great grandson Olsen Gabriel Kerr. He was also preceded by 9 siblings in death.

Bud leaves 8 children behind; James Hibler (Linda) from Grain Valley, MO, Larry Hibler from Oklahoma City, OK, Leslie Nance from Pueblo, CO, Mark Hibler (Rebecca) from Houston, TX, Barbara Washington from Wichita, KS, Kelli Lucas (John) from Bolivar , MO, Karla Fuentes (Santos) from Amarillo, TX, and Tammy Kerr (Bryan) from Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by a brother; Don Hibler (Judy) from Tuscumbia, MO and a sister, Anna Adams. Bud leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that he was very proud of.

The cremation has already taken place. The funeral will take place on October 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Liberal Cemetery.
