Laura Everett Obituary (1955 – 2021) – KENT, WA

Laura Marie Everett, 65 years old, died peacefully in her sleep at home in Kent, WA on July 17, 2021.

Laura was born in Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan in 1955. She was the daughter of Norman and Sophie Newell. Born into a military family, Laura moved to different countries and parts of the United States many times in her young life until she finally moved to WA with her family at the age of 18. She attended Bellevue Community College and took courses in early childhood education. Laura married Matt in 1980. In addition to being a loving wife and mother of 2, Laura ran a daycare center in her home and later worked in the Bellevue School District, where she taught and cared for children.

Laura and her family belonged to St Stephens Catholic Church in Renton, WA for many years. All her life she volunteered in the schools and churches of her children to help where it was needed. Laura loved to travel, especially with her grandchildren. She loved music, was a passionate reader and author and wrote a number of novels, among other things.

Laura leaves behind her husband Matt Everett, daughter Cresencia Everett-Zerr, son Derek Everett, grandchildren Sonnett, Ethan, Jaiden, Gideon and Judith, brother Stephen Newell, sister Mary Scheitlin, nephew Grant Scheitlin and niece Stephanie Newell .

The funeral will take place on August 4th at 11:00 am at St. Stephens Church, 13055 SE 192nd St, Renton, WA. The funeral service will be held immediately thereafter (approximately 1:30 p.m.) at Gethsemane Cemetery, 37600 Pacific Hwy S, Federal Way, WA.
