Larry Telcher, 74, from Kooskia | Obituaries

Larry suddenly died of a heart attack at his home near Kooskia on December 30, 2021. He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, amazing gardens, and generosity.

Larry was born on November 11, 1947 in Grangeville, Idaho, to William and Helen Telcher of Grangeville. Larry attended elementary school and high school in Grangeville. Upon graduation, he went to the University of Idaho, where he earned a degree in history.

Uncle Sam then called during the Vietnam War and Larry was drafted into the army, where he served on the east coast and Okinawa. South Idaho became home soon after retiring when he was hired as a teacher in Wendell, and later Larry worked on dairy farms.

After sustaining serious injuries in a car accident, Larry retired due to a disability and moved back to central Idaho. He lived in Lewiston for a few years and then bought an apartment near Kooskia, where he lived until his death. His proudest moment could have come in November 2019 when he was presented with a quilt of bravery in the VFW hall in Kamiah.

His father and mother preceded him in death, leaving behind his sister Lynda Hinds (Charlie) from Camas, Washington, niece Michelle Cline (Dusty) from Graham, Washington, nephew Tim Hinds (Hillary) from Vancouver, Washington and adoptive son Joe Cunningham ( Julie) from Lewiston.

No service is planned, but a family gathering will be held in the future to disperse the ashes.
