Juanita Marshall Obituary (2021) – Everett, WA

Devoted wife and mother Juanita (Nita) Marshall walked into her master’s arms on August 25, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living life to the full with devotion to their families and friends.

Born and raised in Forest Grove, Oregon, she moved to the Everett area with her husband and family in 1969. Shortly thereafter, she completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education at the University of Washington. She began her teaching career in the Arlington School District and then moved to the Everett School District. She has been a devoted reading teacher to many children and loved working with families to bring forth each child’s unique gifts. She and her husband Dixon volunteered in schools and created a community.

Nita loved supporting her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of her friends who came through the door. She was the most enthusiastic cheerleader at her sporting events, a devoted dressmaker for costumes and concerts, and was always ready to dress up. Her home had an open door where family and friends were greeted with a warm hug, an ear to listen, mentoring for learning, and loads of favorite snacks. Everyone who came through the door affectionately called her grief.

Nita’s strong Christian faith was the guiding light in all aspects of her life. It was the main theme of how she raised her children, treated her friends, and participated in her church and community.

Nita leaves behind her 69-year-old husband Dixon and their children; Dixon Marshall Jr., Paula Marshall, William Smith, William Marshall, Sandy and Carl Mitchell, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and their sister Marcy Anderberg. We will miss it very much, but we know that it rests in the arms of our Lord and Savior.

The memorial service will take place on Sunday, September 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Snohomish, WA. There will be a half-hour tour before the service at 1:15 p.m., and a reception will be held after the service where friends and family are invited to celebrate Nita’s life. Additional information is available and honors can be made at https://www.soliefunerals.com. The family would like to Dr. Thank you Martin, of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), for helping us have six wonderful years with our beloved mother. Instead of flowers, SCCA can be donated. Cards can be mailed to Dixon Marshall & Family in the care of Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Avenue, Everett, WA 98201.

… but those who hope in the Lord will be renewed. They will soar on the wings like eagles; they will run and not get tired; they will go and not pass out. Isaiah 53:31
