John Everett Reighard passed away on September 8, 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona.

John was born in Coon Rapids, Iowa on March 8, 1945. John grew up and went to high school in Coon Rapids and has extended family in Carroll, Sac and Keokuk Counties in Iowa and as well as family in Missouri, Texas, Nebraska, New Mexico and South Dakota. John attended college at Wayne State College where he met and married Marilyn Donohoe Reighard (Hinkle). John later graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1970 with a degree in business. John and Marilyn initially lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, with their two children. The family moved to New Mexico in 1979. John was the owner and president of Aspen Carpet Cleaners in Albuquerque for several years before obtaining his stockbrokers license, and later, his insurance license. John served as an insurance agent with Humana before his retirement. One of John’s dreams was to travel the country in his RV, and he was able to do so for many years prior to his death.

John is preceded in death by his father, Glen W. Reighard, his mother, Eva Reighard Meugniot, his sister, Evelyn, and his brother, Charles. John is survived by his former spouse, Marilyn Hinkle (Jerry), his daughter, Valerie Reighard Denton (Jason); his son, Chad Reighard (Danielle); his granddaughter, Ava; grandsons, Angelo (Brianna) and Elijah; great-granddaughter, Tarah; and great-grandson, Jakoby.

John will be buried in Friend’s Cemetery in Richland, Iowa, with his parents. A small memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined by the family.
