James Quillin Obituary (1952 – 2021) – Everett, WA

James Earl Quillin, age 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 10, 2021. He was the only child born to Earl and Dorothy (DeWaele) Quillin on June 26, 1952 in Seattle, Washington . He was an extremely hard worker and even started working at the young age of 12 for his father at the gas station he owned at Crown Hill in Seattle. Even later, he held multiple jobs while in his 9 years of college.
Jim graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971 and from there, went on to receive a Business degree at Seattle Pacific University and a Theology degree from Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In 1983, while working in downtown Seattle at Seattle First National Bank, Jim met his wife to be Arlinda Arland and they were married one year later on December 29, 1984. They resided in Seattle until 1991 before moving to Everett to their current home . They were blessed with a son that year, James, and then 2 years later a daughter, Arly Jo. In the summer of 1984, he started working for Safeco/Liberty Mutual Insurance as a claims adjuster, where he retired 32 years later in 2015. After retirement, he and Arlinda became snowbirds in Arizona, where he loved the warm weather. He was a true “Brony” as he had more free time and brought his inner kid out when he joined the “My Little Pony’s” club.
Jim loved so many things. God, Arlinda, his children, his mother, family, friends, and his dogs (Kamira, Lucy and Heidi). He enjoyed daily bible studies, his prayer and healing ministries, mission trips in the USA and Brazil and chaperoning his children’s high school band trips in Washington, Oregon, New York and Beijing. He loved to relax and hang out with his many wonderful family and friends and looked forward to his Starbucks runs with friends. Christmas was his favorite holiday and he was always excited to decorate his house inside and out. He would put so many lights in his yard in Arizona until it lit up the sky. Jim was also passionate about his sports. He enjoyed getting out and playing them, watching his kids and nieces and nephews play, as well as going to Mariner games with friends. He also loved being a 29-year season ticket holder for the Seattle Seahawks. In fact, his first date with Arlinda was a Seahawks game in chilly December.

Jim fought a 13-month battle with cancer. Being a God-loving man, he wasn’t afraid of death and had lived his life until God could call him to his heavenly home. He expressed that his only sadness was leaving his much-loved family and friends and worried about the ones left behind who would miss him deeply. He wanted us all to celebrate his life as he’s now in celebrating his heavenly home.

Jim is survived by his mother, Dorothy Quillin, his wife, Arlinda Quillin, son, James Earl Quillin Jr., daughter, Arly Jo Dominian (Chad), sister-in-law, Merlene Joy Marsden (Roger), brother-in- law, Gareld Arland (Sherry), 4-legged fur daughter Heidi and so many wonderful family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl James Quillin, his father-in-law, Merle Arland and mother-in-law, Gareldine Arland.

A service to celebrate and remember Jim will be held June 25, 2022 at 3:00pm at the Silver Creek Family Church, 5326 176th St. SW, Lynnwood, WA 98037. Please plan on joining the family afterwards for a BBQ out in the back grass area.

In lieu of flowers, Jim would have wanted donations to be made to either American Cancer Society (for cancer research) or your local animal shelter.
