Jackson County Adds 48 New Coronavirus Cases – Medford News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News

State health officials registered 340 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, including 48 in Jackson County.

The new cases bring the statewide case count to 211,065 since the pandemic began, and the local case count climbed to 11,829, according to the Oregon Health Authority and Jackson County Health and Human Services.

Broken down by county, the new cases include 36 in Washington, 30 in Umatilla, 28 in Marion, 25 in Clackamas, 24 in Lane, 17 in Multnomah, 15 in Josephine and Klamath counties, 10 in Douglas, nine in Clatsop, Linn and Polk , seven in Crook and Yamhill, six in Columbia, Deschutes, Lincoln and Malheur, five in Baker and Benton, four in Coos, Jefferson and Lake, two in Harney and Tillamook, and one in Wasco Counties.

State health officials added three new deaths that occurred between November and March: that of a 71-year-old Columbia County man who tested positive on November 20 and was 93 years old on November 26 in a Vancouver, Washington hospital Columbia County man who tested positive on March 19 and died in a hospital in Vancouver, Washington, on March 30, and an 86-year-old Clatsop County man who tested positive on February 19 and died on March 2. March died at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria.

The 86-year-old Clatsop County man had underlying medical conditions. State health officials are still confirming the presence of underlying diseases in the two Columbia County’s deaths.

Since the pandemic began, 824 Jackson County residents have been hospitalized and 148 have died.

There were 18 COVID-positive patients in hospitals in southern Oregon as of Tuesday.

Nationwide, the number of coronavirus patients hospitalized is 111 – an increase of two since Monday. Of these 111 patients, 30 are in intensive care units.

According to the state health authorities, the number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between reporting times and does not reflect either the admissions per day or the length of hospital stays.
