In fond memories, Bonnie Kay Miller

Bonnie Federer Miller, 74, of Lander, Wyoming, died on September 14, 2021 after a brief illness at Laramie Hospice in Laramie, Wyoming.

Bonnie’s life will be celebrated at a later date in Lander, Wyoming.

Bonnie was born on March 4, 1947, to John Federer II and Ruby Cathcart in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She moved to Lander as a child and it became the only place she really called home.

Bonnie was known for her humor, creativity, and wild independence. While raising her children, she was known for creating unique toys, books, and quilts that are tailored to each child’s personality and interests. She filled her home with enough tasty baked goods and groceries to feed any number of children in transit, even if they technically weren’t hers. She welcomed everyone into their home and made everyone feel cared for and welcomed, creating a large extended family.

Bonnie’s kindness went way beyond the people in her life. She had a deep love for nature and surrounded herself with flowers and her garden. She was the first to rescue a wild animal or adopt a pet in need of a loving home. Spending time every day taking care of your “small animals” has been a true joy and source of happiness all of her life. Her garden was filled with the fattest squirrels and birds, pampering them was a favorite hobby.

As Bonnie returned to work as her children grew older, she became a fixture in a number of local businesses. Bonnie’s unique personality and sense of humor helped her build lifelong friendships and bonds with colleagues and clients. She was kind and generous and never hesitated to offer a helping hand or good advice to anyone who needed a little extra support.

Bonnie married Ray Miller in June 1997. She was very lucky with him and shared a love for Lander and Wyoming’s beautiful nature and wilderness.

Bonnie leaves behind her children Joelle Ashley from Gunnison, Colorado and Rebecca Ashley from Laramie, Wyoming; Siblings Gary (Florance) Tallman from Placerville, Calif., Jeanne Hessling from Vancouver, Washington, and Mike (Terry) Federer from Lander; together with numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Bonnie precedes her husband Ray Miller, parents John Federer II and Ruby Cathcart, son Denny Ashley and brother John Federer III in death.
