Huskies Conclude Homestand Against Seattle U

SEATTLE – The Washington women’s soccer team (4-0-1) stays home to host cross-town rival Seattle U on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 3 pm and streaming on Pac-12 Networks.

The match is the second time the two teams will compete for the WAC/101 Club Cup. The Washington Athletic Club sponsors the cup, with the winning team receiving a donation to its soccer program from the WAC. Last season, the Huskies won the first cup after their 1-0 double overtime win at Seattle U.

WASHINGTON-SEATTLE U SERIES HISTORY

The Huskies lead the all-time series over Seattle U 16-0-1. The last meeting came in 2021 when Washington won 1-0 in double overtime.

THE LAST TIME OUT

Washington secured the 1-0 win over Texas Tech on Monday night. Vanessa Millsaps scored the game-winner in the 68th minute.

SUCCESS SO FAR
Through the first five contests of the season, the Huskies remain undefeated for just the second time since 2012, matching the team’s 4-0-1 start to the 2020-21 campaign.

The 14 goals over the first five matches marks the fifth time in program history to record 14 or more goals over that span. The last time being during the 2002 season.

Karlee Stueckle leads the team with three goals and an assist on the season for seven points. Kolo Suliafu, McKenzie Weinert, Summer Yates, Kelsey Branson and Shae Holmes all have two assists that year.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
Olivia Sekany ranks 19th nationally in goals against average at 0.238, conceding only one goal so far on the season. Kyla Ferry is 10th with two game-winning goals, which also leads the Pac-12.

As a team, Washington is 8th nationally with 3.60 assists per game, while seventh with a .200 goals against average. The Huskies are fourth with 18 total assists and 17th with 14 goals on the season. In addition, the Huskies are sixth with a .800 shutout percentage, leading the conference in that stat as well.

UP NEXT
The Huskies head back on the road for their next three matches, making the first stop at Portland on Sunday, Sept. 11. Following the trip to Portland, UW travels to Sacramento State on Thursday, Sept. 15 before starting conference play at Oregon on Friday, Sept 23.

Washington returns home on Thursday, Sept. 29 vs. Utah.
