Here are 3 school districts’ plans in Spokane for more face-to-face learning

The West Valley, Spokane, and Cheney school districts all have meetings to discuss how more students can return to face-to-face learning.

SPOKANE, Washington. – Three school districts in the Spokane area are considering changing their personal study opportunities on Wednesday.

The West Valley, Spokane, and Cheney school districts all have meetings to discuss how more students can return to face-to-face learning.

On March 25, Governor Jay Inslee announced that student social distancing requirements would be reduced from 6 feet to 3 feet with immediate effect. School districts will need to adjust their plans based on these new guidelines, including those that have already implemented a 6-foot rule to get students back into class. No school district should use the 6-foot minimum between students by the fall, Inslee said.

Here’s a preview of what each school district will propose:

West Valley School District

At a special meeting on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., the West Valley School Board approved a plan to get all preschoolers and students back to 100 percent face-to-face learning by April 12, and to get middle school students back to face-to-face learning by April 19.

The board also approved changes to the virtual learning option for middle and high school students.
