Hail and tornado damage South as wildfire evacuations spread in California – Everett Post

(NEW YORK) – A dangerous storm system brings severe storms from Texas to New York with water rescues, hail of monsters and tornado damage.

Four tornadoes were reported in four states: Arkansas, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

There were also 38 reports of softball-sized hail damage when some car windshields were smashed and property was damaged from Texas to Arkansas.

A flash flood rescue has been identified in Bentonville, Arkansas, as more than 8 inches of rainfall has been reported in the area to date.

There are seven states that are on flash flood watch through Thursday evening.

Heavy storms from Texas to Arkansas still hit Thursday morning with tornado watchers until evening.

An estimated 39 million people will be en route from Mississippi to New York in major storms. The greatest threats will be noxious winds, flash floods, large hailstones, and isolated tornadoes.

Additional rain of more than 3 inches could lead to life-threatening flash floods on Thursday.

Meanwhile, on the west coast, extremely dry conditions with gusty winds led to bush fires in which several evacuations and road closures were still in place.

The southern California bushfire spread to 650 acres Wednesday night with 25% containment.

A high pressure ridge will enter on Thursday and bring some possible record highs in Oregon, Nevada and California on Thursday as some areas in Nevada, Arizona and California may hit their first 100 degree day of the year on Thursday this weekend.
