The Seahawks training camp is underway! Q13 Fox is your exclusive home for anything Seahawks related.

Q13 Sporting Director Aaron Levine spoke to Gerald Everett, the Seahawks’ new tight end, about his journey to the NFL.

Read the following transcription:

Levine: Your way here is crazy, no offers from high school. Five different colleges, right?

Everett: It’s correct. It’s correct.

Levine: You got dropped from junior college and then you went to a division one program … it got eliminated completely?

Everett: That’s correct. That’s right, yes, yes.

Levine: Gerald, how are you doing here in the fifth year of your NFL career?

Everett: You know, I think you just have to put your time in everything, stay determined, stay focused. Things arise in life, whether you play sports or just at work. You know, things arise and you have to go through with them and just keep working and just keep trying to achieve your goal.

Levine: Shane Waldron is from the Rams, so tell us what will this new offensive look like?

Everett: It gets electrifying to say the least. You know it’s getting dynamic, very fast, very fast. And we’re trying to keep the defense on their toes.

Levine: Will it look more like what the Rams offensive did in the past?

Everett: I don’t think we had a lot of different pieces over there. We have a lot of different pieces here that we didn’t have in LA and vice versa. So I’m very curious to see how everything will develop. You know down the line that everyone had detours and certain moves, so we didn’t really have the freedom to do that in LA

Levine: You were recently stopped by TMZ at the Los Angeles Airport, right?

Everett: That’s right, that’s right

Levine: That won’t happen here in Seattle.

Everett: I know, I know it’s funny man, I’ve actually never had a TMZ encounter in my five years in LA. It was pretty surreal that they caught me on my last day in LA when I got to Seattle.

Levine: But do you agree with that? The paparazzi won’t follow you here in Seattle.

Everett: Oh yes no. I love that. You know, I like my privacy, so you know I mean this curious media can stay in LA

Levine: Did you have the opportunity to look around the area and experience a lot before the training camp this summer?

Everett: I’ll try it. I’ll try to check out the Space Needle. You know I was briefed recently about the gum wall that I’m going to try to come around and check. But you already know that I’m up here and that I can be as focused as possible. Make this the best year for us and me.

Levine: You can add to the gum wall, but I can’t think of anyone who can add more to the gum wall than Pete Carroll considering how much gum he goes through during a game.

Everett: (laughs) Right, right, yes. Exactly.
