The Seattle Seahawks probably have the top wide receiver duo in the NFL, but have not nearly achieved a strong production from the narrow final position for a long time. The 2021 season is the year that could change.

Seattle signed Gerald Everett to a one-year off-season deal, which allows a player who never reached their potential while at the Los Angeles Rams to enjoy a breakout year for a team that has always lacked momentum.

The Seahawks have not had a close end to a season of under 350 yards since Jimmy Graham in 2017, and Everett’s career high was a mediocre 417 yards in his final season with Rams last year.

Despite the overwhelming production of Seahawks tight ends lately and Everett’s subpar numbers during his Los Angeles career, there is evidence that this could be the ideal connection between talented players and the environment.

Though Seahawks fans haven’t had a chance to see his advantage last season, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was extremely impressed with Everett as they prepare for the new season.

Per The Seattle Times, Everett and Wilson quickly established a meaningful relationship, with the latter saying of his new close ending:

“Gerald is very elusive – he’s getting more and more open. He just finds a way to make plays. He was exceptional for us and I have great faith in him. “

Having Wilson’s trust will go a long way in ensuring Everett has a successful season in Seattle and earning a long-term contract from the Seahawks to Shane Waldron.

Waldron was the Rams’ tight ends coach in 2017 when Everett was drafted and served as the passing coordinator for the last three seasons before being hired by the Seahawks.

This relationship gives Everett an excellent chance to establish himself as the clear option to catch the third pass for the Seahawks.

Tyler Lockett was targeted 132 times in 2020 by Wilson, who threw 129 of his passports in the way of DK Metcalf. No other offensive player had 50 goals. That pair will continue to dominate the workload this season, but the departures of David Moore and Jacob Hollister have left 87 goals on the table.

His experience with the program and the skills he demonstrated in the openness at camp make Everett a leading candidate to undertake a significant portion of these goals.

With his explosiveness setting him up as an athlete in the 84 and using him as a sub-option that can benefit from Metcalf’s ability to stretch the defense.

Although Everett was targeted over 60 times twice during his time in Los Angeles, he has never played with a Wilson’s Standard quarterback.

The signs from the camp support any signs that suggest their connection should be extremely productive, and after Wilson and Seattle’s passing game stalled last season, infusing a tight end with the ability to hit the 350- Comfortably beating yard mark could be what the Seahawks need to maintain offensive dominance in 2021.
