Ford recalls over 660,000 Explorers for faulty roof rail covers – Everett Post

(NEW YORK) – Ford is recalling over 660,000 SUVs because loose roof rail covers can come off while the vehicle is in motion and “pose a hazard to others on the road.”

The recall affects Ford Explorers 2016-2019. There are more than 620,000 SUVs in the United States

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), the retaining pins in the part can loosen and the roof rail covers detach from the vehicle. To fix the problem, dealers will install push pins and replace damaged rail clips and roof rail covers, NHTSA said.

Ford said there were no known reports of accidents or injuries related to the recall.
