First case of Omicron found in Spokane County

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Regional Health District announced Wednesday that the first Omicron case has been confirmed for the county.

The Washington State Department of Health reported that one of the sequenced Spokane County’s COVID-19 cases was caused by the variant.

The Spokane Regional Health District also reported 272 new cases for Spokane County on Wednesday. This brings the total number of cases to 81,062. There are currently 65 people in the county with COVID-19 in hospital.

Health leaders said they are still working to learn more about the Omicron variant. They reminded people to do the best they can to protect themselves and others, to get vaccinated, to wear masks in and in crowds, to maintain social distance, and to stay at home when you are sick.
