Everett baseball head coach Travis Klahre led his warriors to the state title last June, but on Thursday, he also earned an individual coaching award.
He was selected by the PIAA as the NFHS/Pennsylvania Baseball Coach of the Year.
The Warriors won the PIAA Class AA Baseball Championship with a 1-0 win in 9 innings over Neshannock to become the first Bedford County team to win a baseball state title, the first boys’ team from Bedford County to win a PIAA state championship, and the first Everett team to win a PIAA state championship.
The Warriors went 4-0 in the PIAA playoffs including 2 comebacks in the final at-bat as well as shutouts in the semifinal and the final.
The Warriors ended the year at 21-2 with an ICC South Division title, a District 5-AA championship, and a PIAA Class AA title.
According to the PIAA, the selection was based upon Coach Klahre’s coaching impact as well as the success of the Baseball program during the 2021-22 school year.
