Everett woman dies in Whidbey Island car crash

Sharon Gamble, 77, was a passenger in a car that was hit by a driver whose SUV was crossing the center line of Highway 525.

CLINTON – An Everett woman died Saturday afternoon after a head-on collision on Highway 525 near Clinton on Whidbey Island.

Sharon Gamble, 77, was a passenger in a Mercedes-Benz E-350 sedan driven by an Everett man heading south on the highway near Campbell Road. A 39-year-old Lynnwood woman in a Ford Explorer SUV traveling north allegedly crossed the center line and crashed into the car around 1 p.m., according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Everett woman died on the scene, and the man who drove the car she was in was hospitalized at Everett Providence Regional Medical Center.

The Lynnwood woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

It is believed that alcohol or drugs were involved and the cause has been investigated.
