The Everett Silvertips will have home ice advantage as the WHL Playoffs begin next Friday at Angel of the Winds Arena in downtown Everett, Washington. Here’s everything you need to know.
The Everett Silvertips dropped their final regular season contest by a 4-1 score to the Tri-City Americans Saturday night. They will open the Western Hockey League Playoffs with a first-round matchup with the Vancouver Giants beginning next weekend.
Michal Gut scored the lone goal for the Silvertips on the powerplay, his 18th of the season, while four different goal scorers tallied for the Americans. Over-agers Connor Bouchard and Sasha Mutala netted goals in their final career WHL game for Tri-City. Braden Holt stopped 19 of 22 in the loss.
The Everett Silvertips have finished the regular season 45-13-5-5, securing 100 points. As the top seed in the Western Conference, they will meet the eighth-seeded Vancouver Giants in the opening round of the WHL Playoffs. The Giants finished the season 1-8-1 in their final 10 games, falling into a three-way points tie with the Prince George Cougars and Spokane Chiefs.
Prince George earned the sixth seed by virtue of owning the best goal differential of the three teams. Spokane then was awarded the seventh seed by winning the season series against the Vancouver Giants 3-1.
