Everett schools return, vaccine clinics begin – Boston 25 News

BOSTON – It’s the start of a new school year for over 7,000 students in Everett, a district that is among 100 who attend vaccination clinics. The state pushed vaccination for returning students as part of a massive effort to vaccinate unvaccinated children and parents.

“We’ll keep them for as long as there’s demand,” said Governor Charlie Baker.

Lowell, Chelmsford, Lexington and Everett are among the school districts that open Tuesday morning.

According to Everett’s superintendent, 61% of residents 12-15 are vaccinated, compared with 74% of residents 16-19. According to Baker, 65% of children between the ages of 12 and 15 are vaccinated nationwide, and the number of older students is close to that number.

Everett will hold vaccination clinics in the high school for those who wish to attend, officials said.
