Everett Lecain Obituary (2021) – Bakersfield, CA

Everett Lyle LeCain
July 18, 1963 – February 23, 2021

Everett Lyle LeCain, 57, was born on July 18, 1963 in Hollywood, Florida to Francis and Lydia LeCain. He died at his Bakersfield, California home on February 23, 2021 after a two-and-a-half year battle with multiple myeloma.

The family moved to Garden Grove, California when Everett was a preschooler. He then moved to Fremont and Glennville, Ca. Living in the country with the woods as a playground was a high point of his young life. He graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1982.

Everett served honorably in the U.S. Air Force at Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan and Clark Air Force Base, Philippines from August 16, 1982 through February 23, 1987. He was a specialist in power generation. He has received numerous medals, including the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Outstanding Unit Award.

After serving in the service, Everett worked at several Bakersfield print shops. On his birthday in 2000, he was offered a permanent position with the US Postal Service. There he met his sweetheart KitKat. He loved his 18 years as a land transport company and loved his employees and customers.

Everett’s intoxicating passion for music was known to everyone who knew him. He was a self-taught, extremely experienced guitarist. He loved teaching guitar and sharing his knowledge with others. He was a talented musician who played the piano, keyboard, drums, harmonica, mandolin, ukulele, bass, banjo, saxophone, accordion, talk box, jew’s harp, violin, or anything with which he could make music!

Everett was a gifted athlete. He enjoyed swimming, diving, hiking in the woods, cross-country skiing, softball, soccer, and unicycling. He expressed himself through drawing, animation and photography. Everett shared his passion for playing Zelda Breath of the Wild with his father, brothers, nephews, and nieces. He loved spending time with his beloved wife in Lake Tahoe, Morro Bay, Yosemite, and Portola.

Everett’s smile, dimples, the twinkle in his eyes, his laughter, and his exuberant, playful, childlike nature will always be precious memories to warm our hearts. Everett’s kind, gentle, and loving soul has been revered and will all be missed.

Everett is survived by his beloved wife KitKat LeCain, daughter Kathleen Jayko (Daniel), granddaughter Charli Castro and loyal fur babies Dory, CoCo and Mr. Snoops. He is also survived by his father Francis “Red” LeCain (Elaine); Mother Lydia French; Stepmother Patty Hurd; Sisters, Sonia Bellows and Sara Burchmore (Brian); Brothers Allen LeCain (Kelly), Abraham Hopkins (Shannon), and Damien Hopkins (Xiomara); many nieces and nephews.

KitKat is especially grateful for the kindness and generosity of our staff at USPS, the care we have received at CBCC, and the Bristol Hospice for their compassionate care to Everett. Thank you to all of our family members and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.

A private military service will be held at the National Cemetery on March 22, 2021. Instead of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Kern County Music Educators Scholarship Fund. Make checks payable to KCMEA, write “Scholarship Fund” on the memo, and mail it to KCMEA, 1241 G Street, Bakersfield, CA 93304.
