Everett Briscoe murder: 2 more victims of Frederick Jackson and Anthony Jenkins alleged crime spree speak out

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – The two men arrested in connection with a double shootout that killed a police detective in New Orleans may have been on a crime spree that day.

Investigators said Frederick Jackson and Anthony Jenkins robbed people in the Galleria area before the August 21 shooting at The Grotto Ristorant on Westheimer Road.

The robbery victims spoke to ABC13 on Friday but asked us to hide their identities for their safety as police said the suspects were part of a gang.

They said the robbery that happened in broad daylight was frightening even though they survived it.

“They stopped me when I was trying to get in the car. So I didn’t know what was going on. I think I panicked and ran, ”said a man.

The other victim said one of the suspects had drawn a gun.

“Another guy ran up to me, held a gun in my face and said, ‘Just shut up and you’ll be fine,'” he said.

These two victims were robbed at gunpoint on the day of the fatal shooting along a quiet residential street near the Galleria.

“He told him [to] take off all his jewelry, everything from his pockets, “said one victim.

The other victim listed the things the thieves took away.

“[A] Watch, bag and I had a shoulder bag, “he said.” My wallet was in there, my car keys, house keys and my phone. “

The man who tried to escape fell to the ground and had the scars that revealed it.

“Actually, I’m glad I fell,” he said.

That may have allowed the robbers to get what they wanted and kept him from dealing with worse wounds.

“Right after I was robbed when he left, he said,” You’re lucky I didn’t shoot you [expletive]. ‘ Then they left. “

Although they didn’t see the robbers’ faces, a man said he recognized the clothes and a car that aired Saturday night after the fatal shooting at The Grotto.

“When I saw the news, the car was burned out,” said the victim. “As for the boys, I only saw a black hoodie and a white hoodie. The guys who robbed us, one had a white hoodie and one had a black hoodie. So I kind of put it together. I said, ‘These are the boys.’ “

Beyond this description, he said that he also saw something in the eyes of the thieves.

“When he told me to be quiet, I knew he wasn’t playing,” said the victim. “I knew he was going to pull the trigger. There was no doubt about what I saw in his eyes. So I froze. “

Jackson and Jenkins face a serious robbery with a lethal weapon and murder charges.

Knowing this now, the victims said they were grateful for losing a few thousand dollars, but not their lives.

“Justice belongs to God. That’s it. I am blessed to be alive,” said one of the victims.
