Looks like Emory’s on Silver Lake will become Anthony’s Lake House in March. Today MyEverettNews.com had a chance to talk with Emory Cole who built the restaurant from the ground up on the southeast shore of Silver Lake in south Everett, Washington at the property formerly known as the Silver Beach Resort.

The restaurant opened in October of 1994 and ran until November 2009 when it was destroyed in a fire set by a teenage arsonist. The fire did an estimated two million dollars in damage. The arsonist was eventually caught and charged. Cole rebuilt the restaurant and they re-opened at Thanksgiving 2010.

“I’m not getting any younger and the family is not interested in carrying it on,” said Cole. “I’ve served in the Army, as a mayor and in a difficult business for more than four decades. It’s time to kick back with my wife Molly, visit our son and grandchild in California and take a little us time.”

Cole had two criteria in looking for a buyer for the restaurant. First the company had to be well established and second, he wanted it to be family owned. The Anthony’s Group met both and Cole told us they’re offering continuing employment to all of the current staff and grandfathering them their vacation time and benefits earned while working for Emory’s.

Over the years Emory’s on Silver Lake has been a strong supporter of community events in the Everett area including Housing Hope and the Everett Providence Children’s Foundation. “Most of our charitable work over the years focused with organizations that concentrate on children,” Cole said.

The purchase and sale agreement were just completed, and Anthony’s liquor license has been approved according to the State Liquor and Cannabis Board website. It will still take a few weeks to complete the transaction.
