Duchess Kate visits teams who assisted in Afghanistan evacuation – Everett Post

(LONDON) – Duchess Kate made her first public appearance in more than two months on Wednesday.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, visited RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, England to meet with those involved in the UK evacuating thousands of people from Afghanistan.

After the Taliban took over the country, the Royal Air Force embarked on the largest humanitarian aid operation in more than 70 years when Britain ended its 20-year military campaign in Afghanistan.

During Operation PITTING, the RAF flew more than 15,000 people from Kabul between August 14 and 28. More than 850 people came into the country via RAF Brize Norton.

During her visit, the Duchess met everyone from military personnel, including RAF aircrew and paramedics, to civilians and volunteers who helped evacuees from Operation PITTING through a base repatriation center. In addition to the RAF, the Royal Navy, the British Army and aid organizations supported the mission.

This is the first time Kate has been photographed in public since appearing at two major sporting events on July 11th.

The Duchess attended the 2020 UEFA European Championship with her husband Prince William and their eldest child, Prince George, and took part in the 2021 Wimbledon Championship finals.
