Maintenance teams will begin renewing sections of I-5 heading north and several entrances and exits along the highways in the area to preserve and extend the useful life of the lane

VANCOUVER – Individuals using Interstate 5, State Route 500, and State Route 14 in Vancouver must plan for delays by the end of the month.

Starting next week, the Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will begin renewing sections of I-5 heading north and several entrances and exits along the freeway to preserve and extend the useful life of the pavement.

Ramp closures overnight

The crews will close the following ramps overnight from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.:

  • Monday 19th July: The SR 14 ramp west to I-5 north and the I-5 exit north to Mill Plain Boulevard and Fourth Plain Boulevard.
  • Tuesday 20th July: The I-5 exit north to Mill Plain Boulevard and Fourth Plain Boulevard and the Mill Plain Boulevard ramp to I-5 north.
  • Wednesday July 21st and Thursday July 22nd: Mill Plain Boulevard and Fourth Plain Boulevard lead north onto the driveways for I-5.
  • Sunday, July 25th and Monday, July 26th: The east and west SR 500 will exit the ramps to St. Johns Boulevard.
  • Tuesday, July 27th and Wednesday, July 28th: Take St. Johns Boulevard to the SR 500 west and the SR 500 west to the Northeast 15th Street exit.
  • Thursday, July 29th: Northeast 15th Street driveway to SR 500 heading east.
  • Friday, July 30th: The driveway to St. Johns Boulevard to SR 500 to the east.

Ramp closures during the day

  • Thursday July 22nd: The departures from both directions of the SR 14 to Lieser Straße will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Friday, July 23rd: The departure of SR 14 in a westerly direction to Evergreen Boulevard will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Friday, July 23rd: The SR 500 eastern exit to Falk Road will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday, July 26th: The eastern exit of SR 14 to Evergreen Boulevard will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. close
  • Tuesday, July 27th: The departures from both directions of the SR 14 to Evergreen Boulevard will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 27th: The SR 500 eastern exit to Falk Road will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

While the ramps are closed, travelers must choose an alternative route. As with any highway construction project, travelers must exercise caution in the work area and reduce speed to ensure your safety and that of highway workers. It is also the law. The fines are doubled in construction zones. Following warning signs and instructions from highway workers benefits everyone who shares the lane.
