Dawn Richards Obituary (1959 – 2021) – Everett, WA

Dawn Nel (Brokofsky) Richards of Sultan died on September 18, 2021 at the age of 62 after a brief battle with cancer. Dawn was born on July 2, 1959. She was the daughter of Leo Brokofsky and Joan Jellison.

Dawn leaves behind her children, sons Bradyn Leyde (Lyn), Casey Leyde (Maie), Kelly Leyde (Yoshimi) and daughter Rebecca Richards, her mother Joan Jellison, sisters Denise Watkins, Leota Brokofsky, Anita Locken, Teri Holcomb, brothers Tyler Brokofsky and Steven Brokofsky. She also leaves four grandchildren Quincy, Truman, Skylar and Elaina.

Dawn graduated from Sultan High School and later went back to school to earn her AA from Everett CC. She worked for the correctional facility for several years before focusing on the family business.

Family and friends were important to Dawn, and she spent a lot of time following the genealogy. She enjoyed bingo, was an animal lover, and a grandmother.

Dawn is now with her 25-year-old husband, John, who died of cancer in January 2021.

A Celebration of Life will take place on October 23, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Startup Event Center, Startup, WA.

Instead of flowers, the family is encouraging donations to the Sultan Education Foundation as we plan to start a scholarship on behalf of John and Dawn Richards.
