David Hough Obituary (1943 – 2021) – Everett, WA

Dave Hough was born Herman David Skains in Brownfield, Texas on January 6, 1943, to Violet Crawford and Herman Skains. He died on September 18, 2021 at the age of 78 in Richland, Washington, with his family.

Dave moved with his mother to Pie Town, New Mexico and Ontario, California, where his mother remarried and Dave changed his name to David Herman Hough. He graduated from Chaffey High School in 1961 and spent some time in college and various jobs before embarking on a 34-year career with GTE. In 1996 he retired.

Dave met Donna Bower at a friend’s birthday party in 1962. They married in Las Vegas, NV in 1964. They were happy for 49 years together and raised two boys in Marysville, WA. Dave and Donna retired to California and later moved to West Richland, Washington, near the Yakima River. Dave loved all kinds of music, took walks on the Columbia River, and ate donuts with his grandchildren.

Donna died in 2013. After Donna’s death, Dave met a friend from high school again in 2020. Margaret Klein became his partner and companion and brought much comfort to Dave.

Dave is survived by his brother Dennis; his sons Matthew (Tami) and Jason (Caroline); Grandsons Kamry, Logan, Evan, Elizabeth, and Robert; and his partner Margarete. He is much regretted.

There are no services. You might remember Dave when you socialize with old friends and enjoy a cold beer.
