David ‘Bugzy’ Frank | The daily world

David “Bugzy” Frank, 67, died on July 8, 2021. He was the husband of Maria Frank (deceased) and they shared 26 years of marriage.

David “Bugzy” Frank II was born on March 27, 1954 in South Bend, Washington, to David “Bug” Frank II and Ethel Marie Frank of the Bay Center. Bugzy attended Bay Center School through sixth grade and then South Bend. In 1973 he graduated from South Bend High School, where he was known as a great football player and wrestler. He prided himself on his senior year wrestling title of runner-up. After high school, he attended Grays Harbor College. He became a lumberjack to support his growing family.

Bugzy was an extremely hard worker and was known for his badass strength and great work ethic. He took his first commercial tuna fishing trip on the Ethel May at the age of 13. He wore many hats throughout his life, worked in the forest, as a commercial razor clam digger (Alaska, Quinault Beaches, Willapa Skewers) and worked in numerous others commercial fisheries including gillnets, crab fishing, longline fishing, etc.

He devoted himself to his family, including his wife Maria, and stayed by their side until the end. He also loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. The third of five Davids in the Frank family, he was proud to have passed that generation name on to his son David Frank IV, who named his firstborn son David Frank V.

His best days were those he spent with family and friends. He enjoyed playing card games with his children and grandchildren and had a knack for making even the most mundane tasks fun. He also loved camping, boating, water skiing, diving, hunting, and more. Bugzy was known for his infamous “Hey, hey, hey!” which he would blow out of the PA systems he had installed in each of his vehicles.

He was a proud, active member of the Chinook and Quinault tribes. He always shared a large amount of seafood (freshly cooked and / or smoked) with his elders, family, and friends. This tradition was passed on to him from his father and children.

Bugzy leaves behind his son Chris Frank, wife Amber, and their two children Gage Frank and Jonah Frank, all from Vancouver, Washington; his daughter Samantha Eller, her husband Michael, and their two children Roselyn Eller and Calvin Eller, all from Cathlamet; Daughter-in-law Claire Frank and her three children: David Frank V., Grayson Frank, Ella Frank, all from Spokane; Stepdaughter Amy Stigall, her husband John, and their four children: KellyAnn Graves, John Stigall Jr., Katlyn Stigall, and Summer Stigall, all from South Bend; Stepson Christopher “Fur” Lorton and his girlfriend Misti Kelm from Raymond.
