Darrell Chapman Obituary (1945 – 2022) – Everett, WA

Darrell Leon Chapman, age 77 of Edmonds, WA, peacefully passed away at home on June 25, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert & Earline Chapman; and brother Scott Chapman. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Chapman; daughter Debbie Castle and grandchildren Blake Stollard & Nicole Castle; son Joseph Chapman (husband Christopher Lindstrom); and brother Mark Chapman (wife Monica).

Darrell was born May 23, 1945 in Dallas, Texas. Military service included USNR E-5 between 1967-1973, a Vietnam Veteran with Honorable Discharge. Electrician by trade and devoted Democrat, Darrell worked tirelessly to support workers’ rights, culminating his career as an organizer for IBEW Local 191 & Snohomish County Labor Council President.

Darrell had a passion for playing poker. He proved his love of sports by being a Little League Baseball coach & umpire, always backing his Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. With his Willie Nelson style voice, Darrell enjoyed singing to his family or crowds, having had the honor to perform our National Anthem on several occasions at local events.

A bear persona on the outside, while always a teddy bear on the inside. Darrell was a protector, an advocate, and an ally.

The family will hold a celebration of life in the coming months. Darrell requested cremation, ashes to be scattered in several locations with final resting place at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA.
