Daniel Montano returns late, Spokane Indians go from Vancouver Candians 11-10 | Spokane Indians

Daniel Montano delivered when it was really important to the Spokane Indians.

His single run with two runs in the eighth inning scored the game and his sacrificial flight in the ninth brought the Spokane Indians over the visiting Vancouver Canadians with 11-10, the third of a six-game high A-West series in the Avista- Stadium on Thursday.

With one at the end of the ninth, Jack Blomgren walked, then finished second on a failed pickup attempt. Collins played a single to the left, but Blomgren couldn’t read the hit well and only managed to move up to third place.

But Montano’s fly to the medium left was enough to bring Blomgren home to victory.

The Indians (35-40) were 9-5 behind in the last innings, but scored three goals in the sixth inning, then Montano (3 for 5) completed the comeback with a double-run double in eighth place.

“It’s pretty nice (to contribute),” said Montano. “It was a crazy game tonight. We had 10, 11 runs. I was trying to get the ball into play and help my team win. We have a lot more games to go if we want playoffs this year.”

“We got a lot of really good bats from everyone, top to bottom,” said Collins. “To be able to tie this game and win in the end that was really great and those are the kind of wins that are sure to turn the season around.”

Early in the game, Montano struck third with fewer than two outs with a runner. Indian manager Scott Little said it was a learning experience for his outfielder.

“He could have been pouting,” Little said of Montano. “The next time he came up, bam, two RBI base hits. Game on the line and the end of ninth, man in third to win the game, he hits a sackfly to win. So I move my hat to the child. “

“I don’t think too much,” said Montano. “You know baseball is a tough game, but you have to take the opportunity every day to do your job, you know, just try to get the ball into play whether you fail or score.”

Collins finished 5 for 6 with three RBIs.

“I saw it pretty good,” said Collins. “Pretty good, I’m not going to lie.”

Collins said he hasn’t had a five-hit game since high school.

“I’m really sticking to my approach,” he said. “Keep the effort down, trust your eyes, stay on the fastball and you’ll see you break balls and really trust myself, keep it simple.”

“Isaac had a great game,” said Little. “Great game, it just keeps coming up and hitting rockets all night.”

In the second game in a row, the Indians came out suddenly and took the lead early. With a failure in the first inning, Montano and Colton Welker hit consecutive singles, which produced the league home run leader Michael Toglia.

Toglia made a 2-0 mistake on his 15th homer of the season.

Spokane added a run in the second run. Stovall (3 for 5) led with a double, but was wiped out in third after a field player was chosen. AJ Lewis stayed first and came second. Lewis finished third with a groundout and scored a goal from Collins.

But the lead did not last for the second game in a row.

In the lead of the third, consecutive double of Rafael Lantigua and Tanner Morris from Indians starter Trent Fennell, he finished three runs.

The C’s loaded up the bases and Spencer Horwitz delivered an RBI single to tie it short.

Philip Clarke made another run home and after Fennell coaxed a groundout, Little came out with the hook.

Fennell gave up seven runs on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings.

Jared Biddy took over, but the results stayed the same.

Davis Schneider greeted the reliever with a single to the right to score two more runs and make it 7-4.

Vancouver added in the fifth and sixth singles to make it 9-5.

Spokane rallied at three in the sixth, with the big blow coming from a double from Collins with two runs.

Vancouver made it to a double game in the eighth game with an RBI single from Robertson.
