On Tuesday there will be a memorial service for Tulalip Police Officer Charlie Joe Cortez, who died on November 17 last year while on duty at sea. The service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Angel of the Winds Arena on 2000 Hewitt Avenue in downtown Everett, Washington. The service is open to the public, the doors open at 12 noon and a mask is required.
The memorial service and procession will affect several streets in Everett, both near the arena and between Tulalip and Everett. Here are some details about road closures and parking effects.
A fleet of honor with lights will be set up near the boat launch on 10th Street to honor the procession and the loss of Officer Cortez at sea. This is north of the start and the best view can be from Legion Park. Please watch out for officers on motorcycles and foot control ramps and crossings throughout the procession. The best views from the processions are expected to be along Marine View Drive. Visitors along the street are asked to be there by 11:00 a.m.
Access to Everett Naval Station and Everett Harbor will be restricted during the procession. People are reminded not to park next to the Burlington Northern Rail Line on the east side of Marine View Drive.
